Shawn Stumphf
Dr. Shawn Stumphf advises business owners, investors, and their advisors on transactions, ownership transitions, and complex financial matters where valuation, structure, and strategy drive outcomes. As both an advisor and business owner, he understands the financial, operational, and personal considerations involved in building and transitioning a business. He has completed more than 1,000 valuation and consulting engagements across a broad range of industries, ranging from closely held owner/operator businesses to international enterprises with annual revenue exceeding half a billion dollars.
Combining expertise in accounting, finance, valuation, forensic analysis, expert testimony, and transaction advisory, Shawn helps clients navigate complex and high-stakes situations with clarity, judgment, and strategic perspective. He is known for identifying key value drivers, recognizing risks and opportunities that are often overlooked, and helping owners prepare for the scrutiny that comes with buyers, lenders, attorneys, and other transaction stakeholders. His cross-disciplinary background, including training in merger and acquisition advisory, mediation and arbitration, real estate appraisal, and equipment valuation, allows him to bridge gaps across deal teams and connect financial, operational, and strategic considerations throughout the transaction process.
Shawn’s experience across the courtroom, boardroom, and classroom gives him a uniquely practical perspective on the issues business owners face. In addition to his advisory work, he teaches and conducts research in accounting and finance at an AACSB-accredited, R1 research institution, focusing on valuation, private markets, and financial decision-making. He earned his Doctor of Business Administration from Creighton University.
Shawn’s combined academic and advisory experience allows him to bring uncommon depth, clarity, and strategic insight to complex transactions.
